Creating an EPS from an AutoDesk Application

Q: Why create an EPS? A: Typically, EPS files are created for use in other programs such as PhotoShop, PageMaker, Illustrator or presentation on the internet. Generating an EPS allows you to maintain your intended line weights.

The key to creating a grayscale EPS, is selecting EPS.pc3 as your "printer". The EPS printer is a pre-configured printer definition. If you do not have an EPS.pc3 "plotter" listed in the printer menu, please see Restoring the EPS Plotter directions.

Since the EPS.pc3 is setup to print to file, you will have to select a name and location (your I:\ drive) for your file to be created.

If  a file and path name is not set, the file will be hard to find since AutoCAD can create and save these documents anywhere.

Plot settings

Under the plot settings tab, determine how big the EPS is going to be by setting up the page size. The plot area determines the specific area(s) that will be generated in the EPS.
