Special billing codes are available for your studio or research assistants. Benefits to setting up a special billing code include:
- Ability to charge print jobs for any of the DMG printing devices including the plotters
- Order custom scan jobs, or other media service.
- All billing code transactions are tracked through the print server accounting.
- Receive weekly / monthly reports of account activities
To set-up a special billing code, please contact Doug by email, by phone (ext. 216), or by contacting him directly in room 201C. .
IMPORTANT NOTE: Once established, the Digital Media Group is not responsible for monitoring its use by the authorized users. All overdrafts and account abuses are the responsibility of the instructor to rectify.
Special Billing Codes
Special Billing Codes are to be used by faculty, staff, departments, and research centers as a means of tracking costs associated with a project, studio, or research center.
Setup and Creation
In order to request a special billing code be created, print and fill out the Special Billing Code Form and return it to Doug in room 201C to set the process in motion. Please provide the necessary information to make the process as speedy and easy as possible.
- UBF or IFR account number from which the funds for the billing code will be transferred.
- List of users (username ONLY please) who will have access to use this billing code
- Preferred name for billing code (optional)
Once created, you will receive a confirmation email. The account will not be active until the confirmation email is received.
Changing Billing Codes
- Log into the Printer accounting server: http://www.ap.buffalo.edu/printing
- Make sure that you use: ad\username in the username field
- Under Change Billing Code: Click on the down arrow. All Special Billing Codes to which you have access will be listed. Select the desired billing code and click on the CHANGE button.
- To turn off the Special Billing Code: Login to the Printer Accounting Server, Click on the down arrow. All Special Billing Codes to which you have access will be listed. Select "User's personal account" and click on the CHANGE button.
It is very important to remember to deactivate the special billing code since a user is fully responsible for anything either carelessly or maliciously printing against a Special Billing Code. Special Billing Code administrators are provided a complete activity report for each billing code to check for any printing abuses.
